We’ve all witnessed it. Families sitting in a restaurant, each and every member lost in their own smartphone as they wait for their meals to arrive.
Many restaurants are keen to provide a social experience, by that we mean face-to-face chat rather than Instagram!
Independent research conducted by Frankie & Benny’s, an Italian-American themed restaurant in the UK, suggested that 72% of British children wanted their parents to spend less time on their phones and more time talking to them. 77% of parents said they felt guilty about the amount of time they spend on their phone, while 67% admitted that their device had come between them and their family.* Source: Engineering & Technology, published November 30th, 2018
Many restaurants are experimenting with “NO PHONE ZONES”.
When a family arrives at your establishment encourage parents to ditch the digital and park their devices in the “no phone zone” while they dine. As reward for giving up their phones during the meal the children can eat for free. Parting with their devices for an hour or so is a great way to bring families together and embrace family time!
